LA COUNTY:Mother of man killed by officer wants $50 million

Los Angeles County, CALIFORNIA- A local mother of a man fatally shot at his front door by a police officer has filed a $50 million claim against the city of Inglewood.

The families attorney Gregory Yates, representing Donna Wicks (mother), says he filed the claim this week, along with a federal civil rights lawsuit.

The victim, Kevin Wicks was fatally shot after answering his door early July 21. Police say he was pointing a gun at officers and that the shooting appeared to be in self-defense. The official statement has not been fully released pending investigation.

The officer involved in this shooting is also being investigated for another shooting just 10 weeks earlier.
